UF/IFAS scientists with expertise in various disciplines are working to better understand the true scope of Florida’s harmful algal bloom (HAB) problem. Through the Florida Sea Grant program, UF/IFAS teams with 17 Florida universities to better understand and address the issue.
These faculty experts have extensive knowledge concerning HAB and water quality issues. Faculty are also involved in positions and initiatives created from the Governor's Executive Order. That includes Chief Science Officer Thomas Frazer, members of the Blue-Green Task Force, and industry experts from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Contributing UF/IFAS departments and programs include Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, Soil and Water Sciences, Food and Resource Economics, Agricultural and Biological Engineering, and Family, Youth, and Consumer Sciences. Additional content is provided by Florida Sea Grant, the UF Water Institute, the UF College of Veterinary Medicine and the UF Emerging Pathogens Institute.
